My approach to acupuncture considers many of its different practises, including Five Elements as well as Stems and Branches traditions, drawing on what is necessary for the unique needs of my clients.
While these traditions place their emphasis in different places, at their core is the idea of the flow of qi.
Flow of qi, also called flow of energy, can be understood as homeostasis, our ability to
maintain internal stability in the face of changing external conditions. Homeostasis balances deficiency and excess, hot and cold, underactive and overactive immune response, and so on.
Illness develops when the flow of qi is disrupted. Acupuncture restores the flow of qi, that is, promotes homeostasis, prompting self-healing.
